How it's calculated

Dry volume = Wet Volume × Dry Volume Factor (typically 1.54). Each material's volume is its share of the mix ratio applied to the dry volume, and cement bags = Cement Weight ÷ 50kg.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dry, loose materials (cement, sand, aggregate) occupy more space than they do once mixed with water and compacted, so a dry volume factor of around 1.54 is applied to the wet volume before calculating material quantities.

Common ratios are 1:2:4 for general RCC work and 1:1.5:3 for higher-strength applications. Check your project's structural specification or local building code for the recommended ratio.
