Cement and Sand for Plastering: Quantity Guide

jiwan Bayalkoti · Jul 02, 2026 · 6 min read

Plaster quantity depends on surface area, plaster thickness, and mix ratio (often 1:4 or 1:6 cement:sand for internal walls, depending on specs).

Steps

  1. Measure net plaster area (walls minus openings).
  2. Wet volume = Area × Thickness.
  3. Convert to dry volume (commonly × 1.27 to 1.35 for plaster—confirm local practice).
  4. Split dry volume by mix parts into cement and sand; convert cement to bags.
  5. Add 5–10% wastage for site losses.

Run the numbers in the Plaster Calculator, then cross-check bulk materials with the cement and sand calculators before ordering.
