How it's calculated

About this calculator
The Tile Calculator works out how many tiles are needed to cover a room's floor or wall area based on room and tile dimensions, then converts that into the number of boxes to purchase and adds a wastage allowance for cuts and breakage.
Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on your tile size. Enter your room dimensions and tile dimensions into the calculator above and it will compute the exact number of tiles and boxes needed.
10% extra is a common allowance for cutting losses and breakage, especially for rooms with many corners or diagonal layouts. The calculator defaults to 10% but you can adjust it.
Tiles are usually sold by the box. Entering tiles per box lets the calculator tell you exactly how many full boxes to purchase, rounding up so you don't run short.
